Weekly Itinerary

Vermont Countryside Tour

3 Countryside days, 2 Island days, 1 Sailing Cruise

Each Countryside ride begins either north of The Notch in Jeff or in Stowe with very low traffic, and spectacular scenery. Each ride is guaranteed to provide the true quintessential Vermont. The Island rides will be easier “recovery” rides while being close to the water most of the time. Depending on Wednesday’s ride a climb up The Notch can be added on Friday.

Monday – Countryside Ride

Fairfax starts close to the Lamoille river and mostly rollers with fabulous mountains views.

Tuesday – Island Ride

The Island Trail BIke Path from South Hero is truly an amazing ride which feels like riding right on the water.

Wednesday – Countryside Ride

Belvedere gets more challenging into the ride and is a good test for possible Notch climb Friday

Thursday – Island Ride

Starting in North Hero, “The Jewel of the Islands’, heading south over the drawbridge to Grand Isle riding both East Shore and West Shore roads which is the best ride on the Islands

Friday  – Countryside Ride

Bakersfield is truly quintessential Vermont and a challenging climb heading into town. The view returning to Jeff is incomparable.

Climbing The Notch could be added here.

Lake Champlain Islands Tour

3 Island days, 2 Countryside days, 1 Sailing Cruise

The highlight of this tour is the Island Trail Bike Path pictured on the home page, which is absolutely spectacular! This ride is listed on Monday, however, the actual day will be selected on the best weather day. The Countryside rides can be as challenging as wanted or take it easier, however, always remember that “Vermont ain’t flat!”

Monday – Island Ride

Starting in North Hero, “The Jewel of the Islands’, heading south over the drawbridge to Grand Isle riding both East Shore and West Shore roads which is the best ride on the Islands.

Tuesday – Countryside Ride

Starting in Jeff heading to Waterville and then along the Lamoille river with great views of Mt Mansfield.

Wednesday – Island Ride

The Island Trail BIke Path from South Hero is truly an amazing ride which feels like riding right on the water.

Thursday – Countryside Ride

Bakersfield is truly quintessential Vermont and a challenging climb heading into town. The view returning to Jeff is incomparable

Friday  – Island Ride

Starting in North Hero heading north to Isle La Motte which feels like a step back into time. The highlight is St. Anne’s Shrine established in 1666, and regardless of your religious belief is very touching and humbling.

Green Mountain Climbing Tour

3 Climbing days, 2 Island days, 1 Sailing Cruise

The Green Mountains have some really challenging climbs. Starting with the easiest and depending on your overall performance and ability we may adjust the schedule of climbs. Tuesday and Thursday are scheduled for Island rides recovery days, if needed!

Monday – Climb

Middlebury Gap is a 8 mile plus climb which begins with a 15% grade, however, it is short and then continues along by a stream and up past the Snow Bowl ski area ending with a mile of tough 9-10% grade.

Tuesday – Island Ride

The Island Trail Bike Path from South Hero is truly an amazing ride which feels like riding right on the water.

Wednesday – Climb

This will be the toughest day of climbing with the East and West Appalachian Gaps. (one or both) Both difficult and average about 8-9% with 14-15% sections. The West Gap has a 4 mile climb prior to the 2.5 section so this is more difficult then the East.

Thursday – Island Ride

Starting in North Hero, “The Jewel of the Islands’, heading south over the drawbridge to Grand Isle riding both East Shore and West Shore roads which is the best ride on the Islands

Friday  – Climb

Ending with Smugglers Notch, my favorite,  from Jeff. It is 8 miles with the last 3 miles a pretty constient 8-9% although there is a break of sorts before starting the last mile. It gets to 11% near the top entering The Notch, which is breathtaking!

NOTE: Any of the tours can be customized.
